Davis WeatherLink - APRS Setup
(Version 5.2 or later)
Here you can enter
your amateur radio call sign or Citizen Weather Observers Program (CWOP)
identification number, modify the Telnet settings if necessary, and enter the
latitude and longitude settings for your station.
Note: The APRSWXNET used by the CWOP
requires a higher resolution for latitude and longitude coordinates than the
settings used by your Vantage Pro weather station. If you haven’t already
entered your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, please use the URLs
listed below to get your precise location information and enter it in the APRS
Setup dialog box.
To Access the APRS Setup
Window:
1. Select Internet Settings from the Setup
menu.
2. Find the Data Upload Summary section of the Internet Settings window, and select Configure for the data
upload profile you will use for APRS.
NOTE: Three data upload profiles are available for internet and
APRS uploading.
3. Select Configure APRS.
To Configure Your APRS
Setup:
4. Enter your CWOP number or
amateur radio call sign.
5. Verify the telnet APRS
server setting:
· The default APRS
server is second.aprs.net
Alternative Tier 2 APRS
servers supporting CWOP connections:
Server
Name: apraca.net
Port:
23
Server Name: aprsfl.net
Port: 14580 (tier
1)
6. Verify the telnet port
setting:
· The Telnet Port should be set to
"23" (except as otherwise noted
above).
7. Verify the telnet password
setting:
· The Password default setting is "-1 vers WL 5.2"
· "-1 vers" is required by the APRS system.
"WL 5.2" is optional and can be
changed if you wish"
8. Edit your station
location settings:
· APRS requires more
precise location information than is used by WeatherLink. Use one of the URLs
listed below to find the exact Latitude and Longitude settings for your
address:

Finder: http://www.geocode.com/eagle.html-ssi
Latitude/Longitude
Finder (outside US): http://www.calle.com/world/
· Click Modify
to edit the Latitude and Longitude
settings.
9. To Exit APRS
Setup:
· Click OK exit and save the changes made in this
dialog box.
· Click Cancel to exit without saving any changes
made in this dialog box.
